About Me....

Equipment

My name is Lee Parsons, I am a freelance photographer based in Blaenau Gwent, south Wales.

I started my photographic journey back in 2002 when I purchased a second-hand Canon AE-1 35mm SLR, a great camera which I used primarily for black & white photography, I soon enrolled on a course at a local college to study dark room techniques.

Late 2003 saw the purchase of my first digital camera the Canon EOS 20D, this was a game changer, taking photographs, uploading to a pc and printing off, one of the first photographs I took of St Illtyd's Church (below) will always be treasured,

An image of a Common Darter Dragonfly saw me achieve my first award, receiving a Highly Commended in a local photography competition.

A couple years later I received a Joint First Place with good friend Mike Warburton in the same competition, my image of a Meadow Pipit with a beak-full of food can be seen in the LRPS section of the website.

After becoming ill in 2008/09 and receiving dialysis treatment three times a week, I signed up to a photography course at a local education centre to gain more skills and qualifications in the subject.

In 2010 I set up my Moorland Feeding Station and it provided me with a peaceful haven whilst recovering from medical treatment, it stayed open until 2024, you can read more about this in my first blog.

2013 saw me enter a panel of work to the Royal Photographic Society in the wildlife category, all images and the outcome are in the LRPS section of the website.

Over the years my images have been published in many titles and I have had front page lead on sports supplements, back page leads, supplied photographs for a novel, biography and websites!

I have been fortunate to engage in many aspects of photography but my passion will always lie with Wildlife and Sport, the great outdoors has been a massive part of my life!

I have always used Canon gear after my first purchase of the AE-1 35mm SLR back in 2002, over the years many cameras and lenses have come and gone to enable me to enjoy the equipment I have today.
