2026

What a start to 2026, rain, rain and more rain.

The station seems to have been flooded throughout both January and February with limited opportunities to do photography, the one plus has been the new hide, though even that has taken a battering!

When I set the station it was with full intention to be solely raptor free (I wouldn't be feeding them at least) but old habits die hard and this year has seen increased visits from a pair of Red Kites and Buzzard feeding on the scraps put out, the addition of the Raven's makes me smile, always first in, even when I'm sat 20 feet away in the car!

The tail end of 2025 saw just one record of a Brambling, the flocks of Lesser Redpoll did make up for it a little bit (the one opposite was a loner)!

The last two weeks have seen Stonechat and Reed Bunting flitting about, but not in, likewise a Blackcap has sung in the scrub and a brief visit from a Chiffchaff brightened another rainy day!

In January I achieved more award success, receiving Second Place in a national competition orgainsed by the DPS, my image entitled: 'Rainy Day Robin' (opposite) claiming the prize, so at least some good did come out of one downpour!

The Stock Dove visits have been welcomed if only for clearing up the left over seed, there are still two there knocking about, but they had a scare when a male sparrowhawk came over the top of them!

Hopefully March ,may see a change of fortune with the weather?
